Dr. Ram Kumar Mishra, Director-General, Pallavi Group of Institutions, former Senior Professor, and Former Director, ONGC Subir Raha, Chair Professor of Corporate Governance and NLCIL Chair Professor of CSR at the Institute of Public Enterprise, is a graduate of the International Management Program, SDA Bocconi, Milan, Italy. He has been a Fellow of the British Council and Commonwealth Secretariat. He has had research stints at London Business School and Maison Des Sciences De L’ Hommes, Paris. He has taught at the University of Bradford, the United Kingdom, and has been a Visiting Professor at Maison Des Sciences De L’ Hommes, Paris, UN International Centre for Public/Promotional Enterprises, Slovenia, University of Technology Mara, Malaysia, Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, Sri Sri University, India and University of Johannesburg, South Africa. He was a member of the UN Task Force on Standards of Excellence in Public Administration and Education. He has been a Management Consultant for several organizations including DFID, Deloitte, Adam Smith Institute, ADB, and the Centre for Good Governance. He was associated with the UNDP project on Macro Economics of Poverty Reduction carried out by RBI Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Banking and Research. He was a team member of the State Fiscal Restructuring Project of the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy. He was Vice-President, International Association of Schools and Institutes in Administration (IASIA), Brussels. He was the Chairman of the Working Group II: Public-Private-Partnership and Enterprise Management constituted by the IASIA. He was chosen for the Australian Leadership Award by the Australian Agency for International Development (AUSAID).
He was on the Steering Committee of the Network of Asia-Pacific Schools and Institutes of Public Administration and Governance supported by the Asian Development Bank. He has handled assignments for the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Power, Ministry of Trade and Commerce, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, and Ministry of Finance. He was also a Member of the working group on privatization set up by the International Institute of Administrative Sciences, Belgium. He is a researcher for Planning Commission/NITI Aayog. Finance Commission, Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, OECD, Common Wealth Secretariat, United Nations University, World Institute for Economic Development Research, International Civil Service Consortium, State Bureaus of Public Enterprises, Financial Institutions, and Banks. He was a Member of ‘Panel of Experts on Reforms in Central Public Sector Enterprises’ set up by the Planning Commission, Govt of India; Member of the Adhoc Task Force set up by the Cabinet Secretariat, Govt of India to review the Results Framework Documents of the various ministries of the Govt of India; Regional Vice President, Executive Board, Association of Indian Management Schools; Member, Adhoc Task Force on Memorandum of Understanding, Government of India; Member, Working Group on Review of the Memorandum of Understanding Guidelines of Central Public Sector Enterprises, Government of India; and a member of various missions appointed by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. He was on the Boards of Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Limited, Bharat Dynamics Limited, Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited, Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited, and Nonferrous Materials Technology Development Centre, and a few joint sector enterprises. He has been on the subject expert committees of the Regional/Corporate Office of CII, FICCI, and a few State Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
He was on the panel of the Committee on Public Financial Management of the Institute of Charted Accountants of India. He was on the Board of the Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (a SAARC-recognized body) and a Government of India nominee on the Indian National Commission for Cooperation with the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). He is a member of the University Grants Commission’s ‘Scheme for Trans-disciplinary Research for India’s Developing Economy’ (STRIDE). He has been on research and accreditation committees of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the National Board of Accreditation. He is a part of the G20 initiative of the Government.
He is on the editorial boards of many international and national journals. He is on the Board of the Global Foundation for Research in Corporate Governance and has been on the panel of the Union Public Service Commission, India. He has been a member of the committees to select top management personnel appointed by a few state governments, public sector enterprises, and private sector organizations. He was a part of the Department of Training and Personnel, the Government of India’s drive to train civil service personnel through vertical and horizontal programs organized in India and their exposure to training abroad. He has published his research in National and International indexed journals and books, among others from Springer, Routledge, Elsevier, United Nations, and Academic Foundation. He acts as a management education specialist for the Higher Education Commission, South Africa, Times Higher Education (THE), and Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). He was a member of the Board of Governors, Executive Committee, and Finance Committee of the Institute of Public Enterprise. He participates in the ERASMUS+ Program of the European Union. He was a Team Member, JEAN Monnet Chair, Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He is a Member, of the India – Bangladesh – Nepal Trilateral Dialogue on Public Policy. He was on the Joint Advisory Commission, the Government of India, and the National Research Council Thailand, Thailand. He was a Member of the International Development Research Centre – Indian Council of Social Science Research study team on ‘Social Science Research in India’. He has supervised doctoral research for several Universities in Public Administration, Management, Economics, and Commerce and has taught at the National Management Programme of the Government of India at the Management Development Institute and M.Phil and MBA programs for more than four decades interacting with more than 20,000 students.
His current interests include corporate social responsibility, corporate governance, sustainable development, ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance), management education, and institution building.
